Integrated Waste Management and Marine Litter Prevention in the Western Balkans
The project aims to tackle Integrated Waste Management and Marine Litter Prevention in the Western Balkans. Urban Research Institute (URI), along with the consortium partners, DEKONTA and E3 CONSULTING brings together a blend of expertise and regional experience. The consortium leverages its team’s extensive knowledge in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Kosovo.
The project outlines a structured approach through five work packages, each addressing specific aspects of the project. These range from institutional support and training on the Waste Framework Directive (WFD) tool to the development of national guidelines and implementation strategies. The project’s overarching goal is to enhance the assessment of plastic leakages and suggest management improvement solutions across the four Mediterranean regions, simultaneously boosting institutional and reporting capacities in line with the Barcelona Convention.
